Kegalle is located within the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka and is found alongside the Colombo-Kandy Road. The district is popularly known for its graphite content and you will find a graphite mine that you can explore such as the Bogala mine. The district is also known for its precious stones and agricultural products such as rice. Kegalle has an agricultural based economy and mainly produces rubber. Close by you will find the Pinnawala elephant orphanage which is a major tourist attraction.
Getting into Kegalle
Kegalle can be accessed by bus which you an board at the Pettah Bus stand, which is near the Colombo Fort station. There are no direct trains to Kegalle but you can take one to the nearest station which is Rambukkana. Check www.eservices.railway.gov.lk/schedule for the times and the schedule.

Getting around Kegalle
