It’s a delightful sight to watch the waters of St. Claire gently gain momentum as they cascade towards the rocky pool below. Resting on two platforms the St.Claire is believed to comprise of several mini water falls that create a picture perfect moment for the eye of the traveller.

St. Claire falls is dubbed as Sri Lanka’s own mini version of Niagara Falls and also as the widest waterfall in the island. Situated west of the Talawakele Town St. Claire falls reach a height of 80m and is number 20 on the list of highest waterfalls in Sri Lanka. Interestingly St. Claire falls consists of two water falls: Maha Ella and Kuda Ella. The Maha Ella is fed from the Kotmale Oya who has its origins in Sri Lanka’s highest mountain Mt. Piduruthalagala.
